ChiangMai Golf Classic 2014

Chiangmai Golf Classic 2014 Now going to be played from 13th-16th November 2014.

The second edition of the US$750,000 Asian Tour event was originally scheduled for this week but was postponed due to political problems.

As it will be played on the same week with the European Tour’s US$7million Turkish Airlines Open in Turkey it is unclear if Thai stars Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat will be available for the Chiangmai Golf Classic.

Prayad Marksaeng will definitely be absent from the tournament because he has confirmed his participation in a Japan Golf Tour event.

Last year’s inaugural Chiangmai Golf Classic was won by Australia’s Scott Hend.

It is unlikely there will be very few,if  any, overseas star names participating with players already committed to more important tournaments elsewhere.

As Thailand will still not have a democratically elected government at that time with a military appointed government in place the likes of   Dufner and Schwartzel , who were scheduled to play before the coup will be unlikely to attend.

“Update” Apparently Dufner and Schwartzel have confirmed that they will support the military takeover.

The website Chiangmai Golf Classic has now been updated accordingly.
