Gymkhana

Probably not the course to be playing on at the moment as it is rock hard and quite a danger to players who like to take a divot. Wait for the rains.

In addition they are currently holding the cricket 6’s so only 6 holes are in play. Overall not very enjoyable at the moment.

Gold Canyon Country Club

Played there a couple of times now. It is going to be a really nice course as it matures, maybe a few too many trees in strategic places but simply adds to the need for accuracy.

The greens are in generally good condition and quite difficult with many undulations, I had far too many three putts!.

They will be having some special deals for “locals” both on the green fees and the hotel facility. We will be posting on the forum in the next few days.

What don’t you like about golf?

That’s an easy one for me, slow play in particular and lack of courtesy. Seems both go together here in Thailand.

How many times have you been held up by slow players in front of you who do not offer the courtesy of letting you play through?

How many times have you been coming up a fairway on a 9 hole golf course only to see a group of up to six going to the tee of your next hole-starters are of course at fault but also very much down to players and caddies.

HighlandsPro/AM update 2

Sunday’s round started at 6.30am for some, tough after a very long day before. We took another 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete the final round, backups on the second nine disrupting the flow of play. Did not stop for the prize giving as we were all a little weary but will post results when known.

No disrespect to our lady players but many could not understand why the men played mainly from the pro tee’s and the ladies still played off the red, a huge advantage.

Anyway, I am sure the guys at Highland have learned a lot and will implement some changes for future events.
